(Statement by the Minister for Civil Aviation, Mr. R. W. Swartz)

A senior Department of Civil Aviation officer will leave

Australia soon to take up an important post with the International

Civil Aviation Organisation in Montreal.

He is Dr. K.N.F. Bradfield, 0. P. E. , the Departmen t s

First Assistant Director-General (Ground Facilities) .

This was announced today by the Minister for Civil Aviation,

ter . FL W. Swarts.

MY. Swartz said that Dr. Bradfield would become Australian

Representative on the ICAO Council succeeding Mr. J.W. Stone, A.F.C.

Mr, Swartz said that this was Dr. Bradfield's second

appointment to the ICA0 Council. He was Australian Representative

on the ICAO Council for five years from 1947 and was its vice-president

in 1950.

Dr. Bradfield has on a number of occasions been the

Australian Representative on the South Paci fic Air Transport Council.

A Now South Wales Rhoden Scholar, Dr. Bradfield joined D.C.A.

e an engineer in 1939 and became First Assistant Director-General

(Ground Facilities) in 1963.

In 1963 he was awarded the Commonwealth Professional Officers'

Association's Award of Merit.
