THE HON BRENDAN O’CONNOR MP  MINISTER FOR HOME AFFAIRS AND JUSTICE    MEDIA RELEASE    Saturday, 14 May 2011      Border Protection Command intercepts vessel    HMAS Ararat, operating under the control of Border Protection Command, intercepted a suspected  irregular entry vessel north of Scott Reef today.    Initial indications suggest there are 32 passengers and one crew member on board.     The vessel was initially detected by a RAAF P3 surveillance aircraft, operating under the control of  Border Protection Command.    The group will be transferred to Christmas Island pending removal to another country.    Media Adviser: Jayne Stinson 0458 547 512 jayne.stinson@ag.gov.au
