Students and staff at Henderson College, Irymple will benefit from an Australian Government grant of $52,315 under the Investing in Our Schools Programme, John Forrest, The Nationals Federal Member for Mallee advised today.

“The Investing in Our Schools Programme is an exciting new initiative which delivers much needed funds to less well-off state and independent schools in the region,” said Mr Forrest.

Mrs Sandra Ferry, Principal at Henderson College said the funding was wonderful news. “The grant will be used to upgrade the air-conditioning system in our administration and art/craft rooms. Currently some of the air conditioning units are very old and inefficient. We will also be connecting to natural gas and converting to a flue gas heating system,” said Mrs Ferry.

“In addition this upgrade of the heating and cooling systems in these areas should result in a reduced energy bill which will have long term benefits for the school.”

Mr Forrest said that his funding demonstrates that the Australian Government recognises the importance of providing schools with facilities that will enhance the education and well being of students.
