Innovation, Industry, Science and Research: Ministers and Parliamentary Secretary

Senator Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, today welcomed the call for submissions to the Textile Clothing and Footwear (TCF) Industries Review, made by Professor Roy Green, Dean of the Macquarie Graduate School of Management, who is undertaking the review.

"The call for submissions provides a valuable opportunity for those with an interest in the future of the TCF industries to contribute to this significant review of this important sector," Senator Carr said.

"The terms of reference for the review are broad and comprehensively cover the range of issues affecting the TCF industries, which have been undergoing continuing structural change for well over a decade. Productivity and innovation are central to the sustainability and international competitiveness of these industries, which represent a large proportion of Australia's manufacturing sector," Senator Carr said.

"I urge all stakeholders to make submissions, to let their views be known and to attend the planned public consultation meetings.

"I look forward to receiving Professor Green's report at the end of August and I look forward to working further with the TCF industries to ensure they have a dynamic, innovative and prosperous future that benefits all Australians," Senator Carr said.
