2008 National Disability Awards

“Nominations are now open for the 2008 National Disability Awards, which acknowledge outstanding contributions that individuals with a disability make to our community,” Federal Member for Murray, Dr Sharman Stone said.

“Residents of the Murray electorate can nominate people in the following categories: • Community Contribution Award for a person with a disability who has made a significant contribution to their community • Young Community Contribution Award for a person (between 12 and 25 years)

with a disability who has made a significant contribution to their community • Inclusion Award for a person who has made a significant contribution to improving the lives of people with disability • Go Getter Award or a young person (between 12 and 25 years) who has made a

significant contribution to improving the lives of people with disability • Personal Achievement for a person, either with disability or caring for someone with disability, who has overcome adversity to achieve personal goals

“Award recipients will be announced at an awards ceremony in Canberra, to celebrate International Day of People with Disability on the 3rd December 2008.”

“It is important our community recognises the great worth of people with disability and those who support them,” Dr Stone said.
