Communities in the Ballina and Clarence Valley regions will receive a financial boost from the Australian Government to help these communities become more self reliant during emergencies.
Federal Nationals Member for Page, Ian Causley, said today that two councils in the Page electorate will receive a total of $77,200 under the Working Togefher to Manage Emergencies initiative.
“This new funding is about assisting local communities in a real and practical way to develop strategies to improve emergency management and build safer, sustainable communities during times of emergency,” Mr Causley said.
Ballina Shire Council will receive $50,000 to design and install a contemporary flood warning system in the Teven Valley.
Clarence Valley Council will receive $27,200 to establish a FireWise Education Centre at the Clarence Valley Fire Control in Ulmarra.
“The Australian Government continues to support councils and other organizations that work hard to ensure that their local communities are given as much help and protection as possible during times of emergencies.
“ I congratulate Ballina and Clarence Valley Councils on the success of their funding applications and
know that the projects they are about to undertake will be of great benefit to their communities,” Mr Causley said.
