St Joseph’s School in Kerang Extension & Refurbishment of Administration Building - Blessing & Official Opening

The Nationals Federal Member for Mallee, John Forrest will officially open the Administration Building at St Joseph’s School in Kerang on Sunday, 18 September.

The capital works being opened involved the extension and refurbishment of the administration area of the school which now incorporates a reception area, secretary’s office, Principal’s office, multi purpose meeting room, staff amenities, amenities for the physically challenged and a sick bay.

Mr Forrest will officially open the new facilities on behalf of the Australian Government Minister for Education, Science and Training, the Hon Dr Brendan Nelson MP.

Mr Forrest congratulated the school and its community on establishing the best possible facilities for their students. “These outstanding facilities will help ensure all students at St Joseph’s are encouraged to realise their potential and attain their goals,” said Mr Forrest.

The project was funded by the Australian Government contributed a grant of $201,000, the school community contributed $50,000 and the Catholic Education Office contributed $44,000 towards the total project cost of $295,000.

Mr Forrest said the project demonstrated the Australian Government’s commitment to providing every student with the best possible learning environment through the provision of these new/updated facilities.

“The Governments initiatives recognise community demand for improved literacy standards, safe and drug-free schools and a greater focus on the quality of teaching,” Mr Forrest said.
