Rudd Government needs to act urgently on

ABC Learning Centres

The Rudd Government’s failure to act quickly on the ABC Learning debacle could mean hundreds more centres having to close, Senator Sue Boyce said.

Senator for Queensland, Senator Boyce was speaking in the Senate today in support of a motion calling for an “emergency summit of the key childcare providers from around the country”.

“In February next year, up to 20 per cent of ABC Learning’s current clients, the school aged children will be leaving full time care, to commence school.

“In normal circumstances these positions would be quickly filled.

“But parents will be desperately looking for alternatives to ABC Learning, unless the Government acts urgently for a change, and calls an emergency summit now.”
