ROGER PRICE MP Federal Member for Chifley

MEDIA RELEASE 23rd November 2005

PRICE RETURNS TO SYDNEY TOMORROW

Federal Chifley MP Roger Price returns home tomorrow morning, following a successful seven-day visit to the State of Israel.

Mr Price was part of a five-member Labor delegation, which also included fellow MPs Julia Gillard, Kelvin Thomson, Michael Danby and Brendan O’Connor.

In a busy week, the group met with members of the Israeli Government, Defence Forces, academics, journalists and religious leaders as well as members of the Palestinian Authority in Ramullah.

Attached is a photo of Mr. Price and fellow members of the delegation meeting the new Israeli Labour Party leader Amir Peretz.

The meeting took place on the same day that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon dissolved the Knesset to call for new elections.

Mr Price and his colleagues were the first overseas delegation to have met the new leader.

Mr Spiegelman is the son of NSW Supreme Court Chief Justice, Mr James Speigelman, and if elected to the Knesset, will become the first ever Australian-born member of the Israeli Parliament.

Mr Price will be available for comment on the visit tomorrow afternoon or Friday. Interested parties should contact Darren Flynn on (02) 9625 4344 or 0417 416 144.
