NEW WAREHOUSE FOR CANNING VALE COMPANY Monday, 3 October 2005

Federal Member for Canning, Don Randall was honoured to officially open the new distribution centre of an industry leading, Australian owned Company in Bannister Road Canning Vale.

BDS Pty Ltd, are the manufacturers and distributors of Australia’s largest range of Shopfitting, Shelving and Display Equipment, throughout Australia, Asia and the Pacific Region.

“I am delighted to open the new premises of BDS Pty Ltd today and wish co-owners David Kemp and San Chotai many years of success with their new distribution centre,” said Mr Randall.

BDS opened its first WA premises in 1998 - a warehouse totalling 450 square metres.

In stark contrast, the new premises opened by Mr Randall are an impressive 1800 square metres.

“In seven years, the company has been required to expand their physical presence by 300%. This is a great example for other small businesses in the electorate as it encourages them to think big and continue to identify opportunities to expand not only within Australia but involve overseas markets.

“BDS have the winning edge over their international competitors, from places like Italy, South Africa and China, as only Western Australia has the benefit of manufacturing to customers specific requirements,” said Mr Randall.

Mr Randall commented on the healthy economy Australia and in particular WA is currently experiencing.

The recent drop in unemployment rates in the Canning electorate complements the Howard Governments achievements of 14% increase in real wages, historically low interest rates, record low inflation, high foreign investment and one of the stand-out economies amongst OECD countries.

“There has never been a better time to be a small business owner. BDS represents a multi million dollar investment in Western Australia and it is because of hard working companies like these that our state and country as a whole, enjoys such a healthy economy,” said Mr Randall.
