Media Release The Hon David Hawker MP Speaker of the House of Representatives Federal Member for Wannon

19 April 2005

Member for Wannon, David Hawker, today congratulated Co-Opera Inc on receiving a grant from Playing Australia, the Australian Government’s national performing arts touring program.

Playing Australia gives all Australians, wherever they live, better access to some of the country’s best performing arts. It receives a wide range of applications from companies and artists around the country.

“Through this program, high quality performing arts companies are now able to tour regional and remote areas,” Mr Hawker said.

“I congratulate Co-Opera Inc for their successful application in a highly competitive field.”

Co-Opera Inc will perform ‘Madam Butterfly’ at the Community Hall in Lismore, Ararat Town Hall in Ararat and Casterton Town Hall in Casterton during October this year.

“Attracting funding from Playing Australia reflects the professionalism of this company and means wider exposure to the creative talent developed and nurtured here in Western Victoria,” Mr Hawker said.

Grants for Playing Australia are offered twice yearly.

Information regarding the next round of funding will be available in the web at
