THE CLIMATE INSTITUTE CLOSURE

Today we’ve learnt the sad news that The Climate Institute will cease its work at the end of June.

For 12 years The Climate Institute has provided valuable independent analysis on the economic and scientific aspects of tackling climate change.

The Climate Institute has been an avid advocate of responsible, evidence-based science and policy to tackle climate change.

Their research has enabled conversations around climate change to be taken as serious concerns for the future, of not just our country, but the world.

To hear their decision to close is in part because of the Government’s use of climate change as a proxy for their political and ideological battle, is a reminder of how much more work still needs to be done.

I want to thank Chief Executive Officer John Connor, outgoing Deputy CEO Erwin Jackon and the entire staff for the work they have contributed to educating and advancing our knowledge on combating climate change.

They will leave a large gap and their work will be missed.
