Working with business on cyber security

Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Cyber Security Dan Tehan said government, business and individuals all had a role to play to ensure Australia’s cyber security.

Mr Tehan today launched the Asia-Pacific Advanced Security Operations Center of US-based communication technology company Verizon in Canberra.

“Ensuring Australia’s cyber security has to be a team effort involving government, business and individuals all playing an active role,” Mr Tehan said.

“The Australian Government is driving action and awareness on cyber security through its $230 million Cyber Security.

“Private sector businesses will engage with the Government through our soon-to-launch Joint Cyber Security Centres, which will drive information sharing about cyber threats and mitigation strategies across business and government.

“We are also establishing the Cyber Security Growth Centre which will build a national network to drive cyber security innovation and unlock greater commercial opportunities for Australian companies.

“We have launched a list of eight cyber security mitigation strategies that all businesses can easily follow and adopt as a baseline for their cyber security.

“Taking action to ensure Australia’s cyber security is in our economic and national security interests and government, business and individuals all have a role to play.”
