$5500 GRANT AWARDED TO HISTORICAL SOCIETY

A $5500 grant awarded to the Port Macquarie Historical Society will support the preservation of the society‟s collection, Independent MP for Lyne Robert Oakeshott said today.

“I welcome the approval of $5500 to the Port Macquarie Historical Society for a „preservation needs assessment‟ of their collection to assist future strategies,” Mr Oakeshott said.

“We have a very active volunteer base in the historical society and we have a rich history throughout the region.

“I know the society will spend this grant money well and congratulate them on their success.”

Mr Oakeshott said the funding has been provided through the Community Heritage Grants program, which aims to help communities to preserve nationally significant, locally owned cultural heritage collections.
