Bomb Blasts in Istanbul The Australian Government strongly condemns the bomb attacks in Istanbul, Turkey, last night local time.

At this stage I understand that at least 15 people have been killed and more than 150 wounded in the attacks.

On behalf of the Australian Government, I offer my deepest sympathies to the families of those killed and injured.

It is still not clear who was responsible for the attack Australia hopes the Turkish authorities can quickly bring the perpetrators to justice.

We are not aware of any Australians affected by the incident, however the Australian Consulate-General is liaising with local authorities to ascertain if any Australians are involved. We continue to take appropriate measures for the protection of our Consulate-General.

Australia maintains its resolve to work with Turkey and the rest of the international community in defeating terrorism wherever it occurs. Australia and Turkey share a Memorandum of Understanding on counter terrorism, and the Australian Government

values Turkey’s strong commitment to counter terrorism.
