Tribute to the late Jan Treloar OAM

The Federal Member for New England, Tony Windsor, MP, today paid a warm tribute to the late Jan Treloar, OAM, following her sad and sudden passing last Saturday afternoon.

“Jan Treloar was one of Tamworth’s best known and highly regarded citizens who provided a lifetime of outstanding service for the benefit of other people and the community in which she resided.

“Jan’s many decades of tireless work since the early 1960’s as a founding volunteer of Tamworth’s Meals on Wheels was truly remarkable and the legacy of her efforts will continue to benefit to the local community for many years to come.

“Her dedication and commitment to a range of organisations such as the Tamworth Bridge Club, the Tamworth Golf Associates, St John’s Anglican Church and as a long term blood donor stands as a wonderful example of the importance of volunteers in our community and Jan will be sadly missed by the many people across our region and beyond who had the pleasure of knowing her.

“Jan was very much a strength of the Treloar Family whose contribution to the Tamworth community goes back generations the benefits of which will continue for generations to come.

“My wife Lyn joins me in extending our deepest sympathies to Jan’s husband, Bruce, their children Jane, John, James and Bruce and the members of their families at this time of sadness,” Mr Windsor said.
