Four bayside schools reap $12 million building bonanza

MORE than 2000 Bayside students attending four local schools will benefit from new and improved facilities worth almost $12 million thanks to the Gillard Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER).

Parliamentary Secretary for School Education and Workplace Relations Senator Jacinta Collins toured the Bayside area today and visited all four schools to officially open their new buildings and facilities. Senator Collins visited:

Beaumaris North Primary: where the Senator opened the new $3.2 million library and learning neighbourhood;

Beaumaris Primary: where she opened the new $3.2 million library and learning neighbourhood;

Gardenvale Primary: where she opened the new $2.1 million multipurpose centre;

Elsternwick Primary: where she opened the new $3.2 million multipurpose centre and shade structure.

“It has been wonderful visiting these four great Bayside schools and celebrating these fantastic new facilities with the school communities,” Senator Collins said. “As a mother of two school age children, education is a top priority for me, and that is why I strongly support BER, which is part of the Government’s $42 billion Economic Stimulus Plan to create jobs and support local economies.

“Bayside teachers and students will be teaching and learning in 21st Century facilities which they deserve. And more than 100 workers have been employed on these substantial building projects, which is what we strived to achieve.”
