Parliamentarians' Expenditure from 1 January to 30 June 2010

The Government has today tabled three reports outlining Parliamentarians’ expenditure from 1 January to 30 June 2010.

The reports include:

Parliamentarians' expenditure paid by the Department of Finance and Deregulation; •

Former Parliamentarians' expenditure paid by the Department of Finance and Deregulation; and •

Parliamentarians' overseas study travel reports. •

“This is the second time that expenditure, other than travelling allowances and travel expenses, has been tabled in the Parliament,” Special Minister of State, Gary Gray said.

“Since coming to office we have moved to put in place clear rules to improve the transparency of the parliamentary entitlements framework.

“The tabling of these reports reaffirms the Government’s continued commitment to enhance accountability and transparency.”

The tabling reports include:

office facilities costs; •

office administrative costs, including: • office consumables and services; ◦

printing and communications; and ◦

publications. ◦

travel allowances and travel expenses for both domestic and overseas travel, including family travel costs; and •

overseas study travel reports from Senators and Members. •

The reports and supporting information are publicly available online at www.finance.gov.au.
