Education Department Reveals They Were Left Out Of Pm’s Captain Call On Schools

Malcom Turnbull is so hell-bent on following his ideological agenda that he is cutting the Education Department out of key announcements around schools policy - making a captain’s call on the future of education in the country.

In today’s Senate Inquiry hearing into school funding, the then-acting Secretary of the Department of Education revealed that he only knew about the Prime Minister’s announcement when he read about it in the media.

Today’s hearing revealed the complete chaos of Mr Turnbull’s approach to schools:

 The Education Department hasn’t had any involvement in analysing the impact of Mr Turnbull’s extreme proposal - they haven’t done anything since the Green Paper consultations last year;

 The Prime Minister’s key education adviser at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet couldn’t even say if she had advised the Prime Minister on the proposal;

 In cutting out the Education Department, Mr Turnbull is relying on the advice o f only four people working full-time on schools policy.

This is a Prime Minister who doesn’t know, and doesn’t care, about education.

The fact that the Federal Education Department were completely cut out of Mr Turnbull’s captain’s call shows the dysfunction and chaos at the heart of the Government’s approach to schools.

Mr Turnbull isn’t even pretending to listen to the experts - he isn’t including the Education Department, he has trashed the Gonski reforms, and he is intent on walking away from public schools altogether.
