The Member for Mallee, Andrew Broad, has announced that the Wycheproof

Narraport Football Club has been successful in its application for funding under

Round One of the Stronger Communities Programme (SCP).

“Sport is an important part of country life, encouraging fitness and social interaction,

so I am delighted to be able to announce that the Wycheproof Narraport Club will

receive $7,272 via the Stronger Communities Programme.

“The funding will be directed towards the upgrading the Recreation Reserve watering

“Having grounds that are safe to play on is vital for the ongoing viability of the club.

Installing a water-wise system will save on ongoing costs and keep the grounds in

good playing condition.

“This is precisely the kind of project that the SCP seeks to support and the

Wycheproof Narraport Club submitted a quality application and is thoroughly

deserving of the funding.

“The Committee should be commended for its efforts and I look forward to seeing the

project completed and serving the community.”

The Football Club applied for funding under the Stronger Communities Programme,

which was one of the initiatives to come out of the 2015 Federal Budget, to assist

with regional development.

The Programme aims to support smaller, community based projects.

A number of groups across the Wimmera and Mallee lodged applications and further

announcements regarding successful projects are expected in the coming days.
