WARRACKNABEAL GOLF CLUB SCORES STRONGER COMMUNITIES

FUNDING

The Member for Mallee, Andrew Broad has announced that the Warracknabeal Golf

Club has been successful in its application for funding under Round One of the

Stronger Communities Programme (SCP), for their heating and cooling project.

“Golf has always been an important part of country life, both for the exercise and for

the social interaction that it encourages, so I am delighted to be able to announce

that the Warracknabeal Golf Club will receive $6,136 via the Stronger Communities

Programme.

“The Club has been struggling for some time with inadequate heating and cooling

which left the club house hot in summer and cold in winter, which has discouraged

people from socialising after games and events.

“Through this project, the Club will install a better, cheaper and more efficient system

that will allow the club house to once again be used for its intended purpose.

“This is precisely the kind of project that the SCP seeks to support and the Golf Club

submitted a quality application and is thoroughly deserving of the funding.

“The Committee should be commended for its efforts and I look forward to seeing the

project completed and serving the community.”

The Warracknabeal Golf Club applied for funding under the Stronger Communities

Programme, which was one of the initiatives to come out of the 2015 Federal Budget,

to assist with regional development.

The Programme aims to support smaller, community based projects.

A number of groups across the Wimmera and Mallee lodged applications and further

announcements regarding successful projects are expected in the coming days.
