The Member for Mallee, Andrew Broad has announced that the Swan Hill District Agricultural

and Pastoral Society has been successful in its application for funding under Round One of

the Stronger Communities Programme (SCP), for the purchase of an air conditioning system

and a photocopier for the Swan Hill Show.

“The Swan Hill show is a wonderful community event that brings people together to celebrate

the great things about this region and I’m delighted to announce that the Swan Hill District

Agricultural and Pastoral Society will receive $5,526 via the Stronger Communities

Programme to put towards the upgrading of Swan Hill Show equipment and facilities.

“This funding will mean that for the first time, the hall area will have heating and cooling which

will be a major improvement in comfort for the many people who use the hall, both during the

Show and for other events during the year.

“Some of the SCP funding will also be used to purchase a better quality photocopier, which

will streamline office processes and reduce costs by eliminating the need to outsource

“The hall and office equipment support the operation of many volunteer community

organisations and this is precisely the kind of project that the SCP seeks to support.

“The Society submitted a quality application and is thoroughly deserving of the funding and

should be commended for its efforts.

“I look forward to seeing the project completed and serving the community.”

The Swan Hill District Agricultural and Pastoral Society applied for funding under the Stronger

Communities Programme, which was one of the initiatives to come out of the 2015 Federal

Budget, to assist with regional development.

The Programme aims to support smaller, community based projects.

A number of groups across the Wimmera and Mallee lodged applications and further

announcements regarding successful projects are expected in the coming days.
