The Member for Mallee, Andrew Broad has announced that the Wooroonook

Lake Foreshore Committee has been successful in its application for funding

under Round One of the Stronger Communities Programme.

“This is the very first project to receive funding under this Programme in the

Wimmera and Mallee and I am delighted to be able to announce that the

Wooroonook Lake Foreshore Committee will be receiving $13,831 towards

their safety fence project.

“Wooroonook Lake is a wonderful spot for locals and tourists, who are out

exploring our great region and the Committee is thoroughly deserving of the

funding to make further improvements to the lake’s foreshore.

“The Wooroonook Lake Foreshore Committee should be commended for the

quality of their application and I look forward to seeing the final result of the

project, in the near future.”

The Committee applied for funding under the Stronger Communities

Programme, which was one of the initiatives to come out of the 2015 Federal

Budget, to assist with regional development.

The Programme aims to support smaller, community based projects.

A number of groups across the Wimmera and Mallee lodged applications and

further announcements regarding successful projects are expected in the

coming days.
