FARM HOUSELHOLD ALLOWANCE AND LOW INTEREST LOANS AVAILABLE

IN WEST WIMMERA AND BULOKE

The Member for Mallee, Andrew Broad, is seeking to remind people living in the

West Wimmera and Buloke Shires that Farm Household Allowance and low interest

loans are available for farming families who are currently facing challenging

conditions.

“The Government has developed a number of responses to support farmers across

the country, affected by unseasonably dry conditions.

“The Farm Household Allowance is one practical avenue of support for farmers and

their families, experiencing hardship.”

Mr. Broad said that anyone facing financial difficulties should seek assistance from

the Rural Financial Counselling Service (RFCS), in order to find out what services

are available, what they may be eligible for and for assistance with claims.

“Self-assessment is a mistake. The RFCS is there to ensure that you receive the

appropriate level of support and that your application is processed quickly.

“There are a number of farming regions across the country, including those in the

Wimmera and Mallee, struggling at the moment and the Government is committed to

helping them.

“Farm Household Allowance, low interest loans and the revised Youth Allowance are

all measures that have been put in place to help ease the burden of our hardworking

farming communities and I strongly recommend people take advantage of that help.”
