RECORD FUNDING FOR COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE

Federal Member for Hunter, Joel Fitzgibbon today announced that 19 community infrastructure projects in the Hunter electorate have been successful in round three of the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure

Program.

“This is great news for our economy and great news for our local communities,” Mr Fitzgibbon said.

These new projects totalling almost $1.5 million will benefit the local community and provide facilities that many had previously only dreamed of,” he said.

This now brings the Government’s total investment in the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program to more than $1 billion, almost $8.5 million of that in the Hunter electorate.

“Through the Australian Government working in partnership with the Cessnock and Maitland City Councils, the Mid-Western Regional, and Singleton Councils, and the Upper Hunter and Muswellbrook Shire Councils, we are building a better future for the community,” said Mr Fitzgibbon.

Successful projects

Cessnock City Council • $60,000 - Jeffery Park Children’s Playground Renewal, Kearsley. • $60,000 - Crawfordville Park Children’s Playground Renewal,

Millfield. • $40,000 - Greta Streetscape Masterplan Implementation. • $120,000 - Kitchener Poppethead Park Boardwalk. • $80,000 - Carmichael Park Children’s Playground Renewal,

Bellbird. • $48,000 - Cessnock City Library Lighting Project. • $55,000 - Greta Central Oval Automatic Irrigation System.

Maitland City Council • $480,000 - Upgrades to Maitland Park Netball Facility.

Mid Western Regional Council • $40,000 - Charbon Playground.

Muswellbrook Shire Council • $164,000 - Upgrade to facilities at White Memorial Leisure Centre (Stage 3). Singleton Council

• $8,000 - Refurbishment and fitout of Out of School Hours Care Facility. • $34,590 - New Cricket nets at Rosepoint Cook Park. • $30,000 - Landscaping grounds at Rosepoint Park. • $35,700 - Funding for shade shelter at the Singleton 50m pool. • $38,710 - Landscaping works at Colleen Gale Children’s

Centre.

Upper Hunter Shire Council • $65,000 - Grandstand and viewing area upgrade- Scone Park. • $30,000 - Murrurundi Swimming Pool- upgrade works. • $30,000 - Merriwa Swimming Pool - new changeroom, roof and

pool leakage prevention. • $34,000 - Scone Swimming Pool - amenities upgrade.
