DÉJÀ VU: TWO YEARS ON AND TASMANIANS STILL WAITIING FOR ABBOTT TO DELIVER

Tasmanians will see the Government’s re-announcement of the former Cadbury funding of $16 million for what it is - Tony Abbott trying to save his own job, rather than the jobs of Tasmanians.

While Labor welcomes any new funding for jobs in Tasmania, it comes from money that was already promised to Tasmanians more than two years ago and not delivered by the Abbott Government.

How can Tasmanians trust that this money won't end up being delayed or not deliver?

Before the election Tony Abbott lied to Tasmanians by telling them the Government would provide $16 million for Cadbury, but that money never arrived.

Laughably, the only novel idea the Abbott Government has implemented is its Tasmanian Jobs Program, which has been an underwhelming failure seeing only 144 of a promised 2,000 participants benefit.

Today’s announcement is simply a re-branded, re-announced bundle of money that was already promised to Tasmania.

The Abbott Government is failing Tasmanians - and let’s not forget Tony Abbott’s plan to stitch us up with a dud deal on the GST.

Two years on from the election of the Abbott Government and Tasmanians are still waiting for the money they were promised.
