The Member for Mallee, Andrew Broad, has today announced that Woodbine Inc.

based in Warracknabeal, has received $150,000 funding under the Federal

Government’s Department of Social Services Innovative Leading Practice Grant.

In making the announcement, Mr. Broad commended Woodbine for its innovative

approach in supporting people with disabilities, saying the grant was recognition of

the significant benefits their organisation delivers to the wider Warracknabeal

“Woodbine provides a range of activities, initiatives and services that create

opportunities for people with disabilities to lead individual, meaningful lives.

“The organisation was specifically invited to apply for the grant, based on their

innovative approach to their support services. They were one of only 17 agencies

nationwide, that were invited to apply for the grant and I believe this is an indication

of the respect that their work generates.”

The grant funding will be used to upgrade the Woodbine Laundromat, which is an

Australian Disability Enterprise.

The funding will also be used to purchase a delivery van, to support an extension of

its laundromat enterprise into a laundry pick-up and delivery service for people in the

local area who receive Home and Community Care services.

“I have visited Woodbine previously, so I am aware of the good work they do and I’m

incredibly pleased to see them receive this funding.

“I look forward to visiting once again, to celebrate the opening of the revamped

laundry and to see the delivery van in action.

“Organisations such as Woodbine reflect everything that communities should strive

for and I applaud everyone who is involved, for leading the way.”
