The Hon Bob Baldwin MP Federal Member for Paterson

18 July 2008

Paterson MP Bob Baldwin has warned Port Stephens residents to not get too excited about seeing a promised GP super clinic any time soon.

Mr Baldwin said a recent letter to him from Senator Jan McLucas, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Health and Ageing, spelt out that the Rudd Labor Government’s funding for the promised super clinics would be over five years.

“Senator McLucas said the GP super clinics would be established in 31 locations around the country, including Port Stephens with a draft schedule for local information and consultation sessions to be held in the next three months.

“But according to Department Of Health’s website on the Super clinic, Port Stephens is one of the sites with all dates yet to be advised.

“Looks like another case of a Labor’s smoke and mirrors act on their election promises. Let’s have some action. The lack of available information confirms that the Port Stephens Super Clinic was a fluffy and vague election promise.”
