COALITION WALKS AWAY FROM NEW BRISBANE CHILDREN’S HOSPICE

The Coalition’s so-called costings reveal that Tony Abbott has walked away from a bipartisan commitment to fund a new children’s hospice in Brisbane.

Both Federal Labor and the Coalition had previously committed to contribute $5.5 million over seven years towards the establishment of Hummingbird House - which will provide respite and care for children with a life limiting illness and an alternative for families whose children require end-of-life-care.

Federal Labor’s funding commitment to this incredibly important project is set out very clearly in our Budget Statement.

But it is completely missing from the Coalition’s documents, released late yesterday afternoon.

Mr Abbott and his Liberal National colleagues in Brisbane need to explain why they have walked away from Hummingbird House.

The Rudd Labor Government’s costing for Hummingbird House, completed under the Charter of Budget Honesty, can be found here: http://electioncostings.gov.au/2013/08/16/alp003_finance-hummingbird-house/
