Job bonuses in work for the dole scheme

‘Our youth unemployment in Murray is a serious challenge. The Coalition has committed to a new policy where young Australians aged 18 to 30 on Newstart, who have been unemployed for twelve months or more, will earn bonuses up to $6,500 if they find a job and stick to it,’ Sharman Stone, the Federal Member for Murray said.

The Coalition Job Commitment Bonus payments are designed to help young, long-term unemployed Australians to get off welfare and into paid work. You would earn a $2,500 bonus if you stay in the job for one year. If you stay employed and off welfare for 2 years there is an extra $4,000 bonus.

If jobs are not available in your local area but it is too expensive or too difficult to move to an area where there is work, the Coalition’s Relocation Assistance program could help where you have been on Newstart for more than a year.

If you have to move to a regional area to get a job, there is up to $6,000 of assistance. If the rural or regional area where you live has no job prospects and you have to move to a larger city to find work, then up to $3,000 would be available to help.

‘We need a change of Government to make sure we do create more jobs,’ said Sharman Stone. ‘The job bonuses and relocation assistance will give young people more help to give it a go.’
