Labor cuts have undermined more than 780,000 jobs according to Wong

Academic analysis latched onto by Penny Wong in another of her lame bids to discredit the Coalition has blown up in Labor’s face.

According to Penny Wong the analysis shows that every $10 billion worth of budget cuts or savings puts 50,000 jobs at risk.

This is fascinating given that back in January Penny Wong was out boasting about the scale of cuts Labor had made since 2009.

Penny Wong: “We have identified nearly $140 billion in savings over the last five budgets, plus $16 billion in our most recent budget update.” (Opinion piece, 14 January 2013).

So based on Penny Wong’s $156 billion in cuts measured against her own fuzzy logic, Labor has undermined or cost the economy 780,000 jobs since 2009.

Penny Wong’s attacks become more desperate and embarrassing by the day. This is a bid to divert attention from her own appalling track record as Finance Minister under which the budget has blown out by a staggering $107 billion under her watch.

Instead of wasting time mounting pathetic scare campaigns which only serve to further undermine confidence, Penny Wong would best serve our nation by outlining real plans to actually create jobs.
