More Labor lies

Instead of welcoming the Coalition’s positive plan for apprentices today, Labor has chosen to spread more lies as part of its negative campaign.

The Coalition has no plans to shut down any of the Trade Training Centres that are in operation or cancel any projects that have been approved under the latest funding round.

In 2007, Kevin Rudd promised to build 2650 Trade Training Centres over a ten year period at a cost of $2.5 billion.

As of May this year, only 252 were fully operational.

For Kevin Rudd to deliver the remaining 2398 Trade Training Centres by 2018, he would need to start opening at least one trade training centre a day.

The delays to this national programme have been extensive and schools have been left waiting a very long time to secure this funding.

The Coalition will not cancel any funding to schools that has been approved under the latest funding round. We're giving all schools funding certainty.

Labor needs to come clean on exactly how it will deliver the rest of the Trade Training Centre programme on time and on budget.

The Coalition has a positive plan to help apprentices complete their training, build Australia’s skilled workforce and strengthen the economy.

Mr Rudd should welcome the Coalition’s announcement and give the new $20,000 interest-free Trade Support Loans scheme bi-partisan support, instead of continuing his relentless negative scare campaign.
