Joint Media Statement

Members of the public are invited to a community information day on the Hunter Expressway at Kurri Kurri tomorrow.

Federal Member for Hunter, Joel Fitzgibbon, encouraged interested community members to attend.

“The information session will update people about the project and explain how the six interchanges along the route will operate,” said Mr Fitzgibbon.

“Major work is continuing along the full length of the Hunter Expressway and the project team will provide information to the community about activities taking place in their area.

“The Federal Labor Government is investing $1.5 billion to the $1.7 billion Hunter Expressway project.

“This is part of our record $11.6 billion investment in Nation Building projects in New South Wales to rebuild and renew the state’s road, rail and public transport infrastructure,” said Mr Fitzgibbon.

NSW Minister for the Hunter, Michael Gallacher, said project information, artist impressions and a computerised 3D model of the Hunter Expressway would be available on the day.

“The information session and display are part of the project’s ongoing community consultation and information activities.

“The Hunter Expressway team will continue to hold regular sessions across the Hunter,” said Mr Gallacher.

The Kurri Kurri Hunter Expressway community information session will be held tomorrow 30 January from 9.30am to 12.30pm at the Hunter Region Business Enterprise Centre.
