CASH INJECTION FOR OUR LOCAL VETERAN COMMUNITY

Federal Member for Wakefield, Nick Champion, today announced the local veteran community in Salisbury would benefit from funding under the latest round of Veteran & Community Grants.

The Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Warren Snowdon, approved $24,757 for the Salisbury RSL which will help maintain and improve the independence and quality of life for the local veteran community.

“The funding will help to replace carpet within the Salisbury RSL premises for the benefit of members.

“This announcement is a positive step forward and I am delighted that a hard working organisation such as the Salisbury RSL is receiving a helping hand from the Australian Government,” Nick Champion said.

Ex-service and community organisations, veteran representative groups and private organisations that contribute to the health and welfare of the veteran community are all eligible for to apply for funding through the Veterans & Community Grants program.

“I would like to congratulate the Salisbury RSL for receiving this grant today. This grant acknowledges that Australia’s veteran community is a deserving group and that we should continue to support them now and into the future.

Without organisations such as the Salisbury RSL, our veterans would not have access to initiatives that improve community care services and encourage social interaction through programs such as Day Clubs, Men’s Sheds and social excursions, amongst other benefits.

I look forward to seeing the benefits of this project realised in the near future,” Nick Champion said.
