BRERETON AGAIN THE OFFICE BOY

The obvious touting of Mr Ian MacPhee by the .ACTU Secretary, Bill Kelty, as a suitable candidate to succeed the late Barry Maddern as President of the ACTU says more about the role of the Industrial Relations Minister, Mr Laurie Brereton, than anything else.

Once again, Brereton has been relegated to the status of an office boy.

The organ grinder is hard at work with the monkey faithfully

Just as Mr Brereton took his marching order , from the ACTU on the substance of the industrial relations legislation, so it appears he will do the same thing when it comes to a new President for the IRC.

It is almost pathetic to witness the way the Minister has been elbowed away from centre stage.

it would not surprise if the appointment of a new IRC President were announced from ACTU House.
