Sharman welcomes news of a Bachelor Degree entrée at Dookie

The University of Melbourne’s Dookie campus is offering a new diploma course that gives local students the opportunity to begin tertiary study closer to home.

The Diploma of General Studies is being delivered at the Dookie Campus in partnership with the Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE and the Wodonga Institute of TAFE.

This new one year full time or two years part time course provides a pathway to employment, further TAFE study, or to University of Melbourne Bachelor Degrees. The courses that young people can take include Agriculture, Science, Commerce and Environment.

Federal Member for Murray Dr Sharman Stone says she is particularly pleased to see Agriculture among the study options.

“This is a great platform for students wanting a career on the land, whether they plan to take over the family farm or pursue a brand new venture” Dr Stone said.

“Local students can access low cost accommodation at Dookie Campus, while staying closer to their family and friends. Some will be able to continue on with their social and sporting activities..

“12 scholarships of $5,000 each are on offer for this new Diploma, including 2 awards for indigenous students” Sharman Stone said

To find out more, go online to Applications close on Friday the 8th of February.
