Greens and the ALP must reject tainted CFMEU funds for next election Friday, 31 August 2012 09:52

The bankrolling of the Green/Labor Alliance by the CFMEU must be rejected by Ms Gillard and

Senator Milne today.

“The CFMEU’s intimidation, thuggery, attacks on police and their horses and breaches of Supreme

Court orders shows such a consistent disregard for the rights of others and the rule of law that

financial contributions by the CFMEU must be completely ruled out by the Party Leaders if they are to

retain any moral authority,” Senator Abetz said today.

“The CFMEU has donated $1.7 million to the ALP and $30,000 to the Greens in 2010 alone.”

“Most Australians now understand why the Green/Labor Alliance forced through the abolition of the

highly successful Australian Building and Construction Commission - it was to let the CFMEU bosses off

the leash.”

“The ugly scenes on our television screens each night are the direct result of the Green/Labor

Alliance inspired abolition of the ABCC.”

“The Greens silence and refusal to condemn the CFMEU bosses speaks very loudly as does Minister

Shorten’s lame and pathetic whispers where he cannot even bring himself to name and shame the

union bosses at the centre of this.”

“Minister Shorten needs to tell the CFMEU bosses they have lost the support of the Government and

that there will be no further discussions until the CFMEU abides by court orders,” Senator Abetz said.
