“The refusal by Paul Howes, National Secretary of the Australian Workers Union, to clear the legal

technicality that stops AWU members from recovery of over $672,000 in stolen funds is a gross

dereliction of duty to his members,” Senator Abetz said today.

“Paul Howes needs to waive legal privilege over all documents held by Slater and Gordon so that

they can be released and justice obtained for AWU members.”

“Mr Howes’ refusal to co-operate is clearly not in the interests of AWU members,” Senator Abetz said.

“One wonders however whether it is in Labor’s and Ms Gillard’s interest in particular, to hide the

evidence from public view.”

“Mr Howes’ duty is to the AWU membership, not to the person he foolishly installed as Prime

“The AWU membership is entitled to its money which was stolen off them by Mr Bruce Wilson, Ms

Gillard’s former boyfriend for whom she acted whilst at Slater and Gordon,” Senator Abetz said.
