Tourism Grants available now for local organisations

The Tourism Industry Regional Development Fund (TIRF) Grants Program is now open. Federal Member for Murray, Dr Sharman Stone says the grants range from $50,000 to $250,000 and are offered on a dollar for dollar basis.

“This is a great opportunity for all local organisations involved in tourism in the Central Murray, Bendigo Loddon and Goulburn Tourism Regions” Dr Stone said.

“They are available for the purposes of providing accommodation makeovers, upgrading attractions and supporting new innovative projects that will potentially attract more visitors for longer periods.

“They are only available for projects in regional areas”, Sharman Stone said.

There is a selection criterion. Applicants are required to demonstrate how; Their product or service is market responsive, It makes the destination more appealing, It fits in with the region’s tourism footprint It will meet long-term tourism goals.

Marketing activities are not eligible. All grants are subject to GST and may be regarded as taxable income.

Applicants are expected to have a close working relationship with industry partners, tourism organisations and local authorities. T-Qual Accreditation, the Commonwealth’s quality framework for tourism, would be an advantage.
