THE HON JOEL FITZGIBBON MP MEMBER FOR HUNTER CHIEF GOVERNMENT WHIP ___________________________________________________________

5 November 2012

The Hunter electorate has received a significant boost of $124,781,982 through the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER) bringing benefits to the region’s schools and the local communities they serve for years to come.

Officially opening new facilities at St Philip’s Christian College in Cessnock Member for Hunter said the Australian Government’s historic investment was delivering modern facilities to school students around Australia.

“Today’s opening ceremony represents the last of the Primary Schools for the 21st Century projects for the NSW Independent sector in the Hunter region demonstrating a significant investment in the sort of modern educational facilities our students need and deserve.

“The BER is a $16.2 billion investment in the nation’s future and is delivering modern facilities to more than 9500 schools in metro and regional communities across the country,” he said.

“It is the single biggest investment in Australian schools in our history.

“Projects like the new $2,125,000 library and eight classrooms at St Philip’s Christian College are making a real difference by improving the learning environment for our children.

Mr Fitzgibbon congratulated St Philip’s Christian College and the local community for their efforts in delivering this historic investment to their school.

“At St Philips the Government is partnering with the school community to deliver first class facilities for our children and I congratulate them on their achievements.”

“I look forward to officially opening their new Trades Training Centre next year.”
