CONSULAR TRAVEL ADVICE: CROATIA

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has reviewed its travel advice for Croatia issued on 4 August 1995. The security situation has eased in many parts of Croatia. However, a situation of heightened tension remains in some areas of the country, particularly

eastern Slavonia and the Dubrovnik region, and Australians are advised to maintain a high level of security awareness, and to familiarise themselves with local security conditions, monitor news reports, and to exercise caution at all times.

Australians who intend to travel to Croatia are advised to contact the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (06-2613305) or one of the Australian missions listed below for advice on current developments prior to travel.

Australians are urged to register their plans for residence, arrival in and departure from Croatia with either: _

The Australian Embassy, Mattiellistrasse 2-4, Vienna (telephone 43 1 512 8580) or,

The Australian Consulate, Mezzanine Floor, Hotel Esplanade, Mihanoviceva 1 Zagreb (telephone 385 41 4577 433).
