THE FOREIGN SERVICE - WOMEN WORKING FOR AUSTRALIA

NATIONAL PRESS CLUB LUNCH

TUESDAY 7 MARCH, 12.30 PM -

Throughout 1995 the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade will conduct a series of activities highlighting the contribution of Australian women to international diplomacy.

The inaugural event in the series, ’The Foreign Service - Women Working for Australia’, will be held at the National Press Club during International Women's Week on Tuesday 7 March. The address will be delivered by a panel of three senior women from the department.

• Ms Lyndall McLean, former Counsellor, Australian Embassy, Phnom Penh and member of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cambodia;

• Ms Ruth Pearce, former High Commissioner, Australian High Commission, Honiara; and

• Mrs Stephanie Daly, former Consul-General, Australian Consulate-General, Bombay and Consul, Australian Consulate, Bali.

The speakers will focus on the history of the role of women in international diplomacy, the experience of women in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and profile life at a post. There will be an opportunity for questions from the floor.
