The Minister for Defence, Senator Robert Ray, today opened a new training annexe to the Australian Defence Force Warfare Centre at RAAF Base Williamtown.

The new facility will provide a state of the art training environment for the forty courses conducted annually at the Centre and will provide the ADFWC with the ability to wargame the conduct of sea, land and air operations.

The new facility includes: an 80 seat lecture theatre: a gaming room with a multi-media map floor; an audio visual office; wargaming control and simulation rooms: an administrative computer room; six syndicate rooms as well as office space.

• THE ADFWC is a tri-service joint warfare training establishment which comprises: the ADF Peacekeeping Centre; the wargaming facility: doctrine development organisation and: a training cell.

Its misson is to study, develop and teach Australian Defence Force joint operational doctrine and procedures.

The new wing was built by John Holland Constructions and Engineering Pty Ltd at a total cost of $3.7 million.
