FLAGS TO FLY PERM ANENTLY ON ANZAC PARADE

"Following a month-long trial by the National Capital Authority and overwhelming public support, the flags at all memorials on ANZAC Parade will be flown on a permanent basis, day and night," the Territories Minister, Alex Somlyay, said today.

"The memorials and ANZAC Parade are important to our nation. They honour significant events in our history and the selfless contributions made by so many. Members of the public feel as we do; that it is fitting that the flags be flown at the memorials on a permanent basis."

The National Capital Authority has upgraded the flagpole lighting on the Parade so that the flags can all be lit at night.
