Eros Targets Two in Federal Election

-0 - 0 -)

Australia's adult goods and services industry association today issued the latest figures for its direct mailing lists covering marginal federal electorates. Campaign manager, Robbie Swan, said that although Eros had the capacity to direct mail approximately 6% of Australia’s voters with a political message, it would be running a smaller and more targeted campaign at this election.

‘It would appear that both major parties have arrived at some sort of bipartisan approach to sex and censorship issues over the past couple of years, which makes large scale campaigning unnecessary’, he said.

‘However, there are still individuals in both major parties who are waging their own private wars on Australia's adult industry and we have decided to focus on a couple’.

Eros will mount a new campaign to try and unseat Chris Miles (Lib) in the seat of Braddon and against Wayne Swan (ALP) in the seat of Lilley.

Eros mailed 3,500 letters into the seat of Lilley at the last federal election advising its members not to vote for Wayne Swan. Swan lost the seat by approximately 1,000 votes. Australia’s sex industry vowed to lobby against both Wayne Swan and Wayne Goss as long as they were in politics as a pay-back for their part in introducing draconian prostitution laws in Queensland. Under these laws, five young sex workers have been brutally murdered.

Eros will mail 2,900 letters off its VIP list only into the electorate of Lilley two days before the election.

In the seat of Braddon (Tas), Eros will mail out 1,600 letters to its VIP list, in an attempt to unseat morals campaigner Chris Miles.

Mr Miles has recently bucked his own Cabinet’s decision to create a new category for adult films called Non Violent Erotica. In a blatant breach of Cabinet solidarity he issued a press release last week, saying Ί will continue to oppose this type of movie production...’ Miles also claimed that he had information that showed a 14 year old person on Eros’

mailing list - a claim which Eros immediately referred tc the Burnie Police. Mr Miles has refused to provide Eros or the police with any evidence of his claim.
