COALITION REQUEST FOR COSTING OF ELECTION COMMITMENTS

On 24 September 1998, in accordance with Clause 29 of the Charter of Budget Honesty, the Prime Minister requested that the following publicly announced Coalition policies be costed by the Department of Finance and Administration, consulting the Treasury as necessary :

• Veterans' Affairs Policy, Saluting Their Service

• Consumer Affairs Policy, A Fair Deal

• Regional and Rural Health Policy, The Best of Health

• Regional Australia Internet Access

• Tasmania Package, A Stronger Tasmania

• Transport, A Stronger Transport System

• Communications (Mobile Phone Highway)

• Families Policy, Our Family, Our Strength, Our Future

• Women's Policy, Opportunity and Choice

• Foreign Affairs Policy, Advancing Australia's Interests

• Fisheries Policy, Wealth from the Sea

• Attorney-General's (Crime - A Safer and Stronger Australia and Drugs, Tough on Drugs: Strengthening the Fight)

• Business Law Reform, Business Law Reform - less red tape, more business and more jobs

• Expanding Medicare Access for Rural and Regional Australia

• Immigration Policy, Immigration: Building on Integrity and Compassion and Settlement, Multicultural and Citizenship policy: Living in Harmony
