The Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence, Bruce Scott, today announced the appointment of Mr Keith Lyon as Managing Director of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

Mr Lyon, who has been Deputy President of the Repatriation Commission since April 1990, takes up his appointment at the end of August. ■ l . '

“Mr Lyon has taken a leading role in developing veterans’ policy, and he has been responsible for a number of significant achievements,” Mr Scott said.

“These have included the divestment of the Repatriation Hospitals, and the introduction and operation of the very successfiil Repatriation Private Patient Scheme, commonly referred to as the ‘Gold Card’.


“Mr Lyon has an outstanding record of success and I look forward to his continuing contribution in the Defence portfolio,” Mr Scott said.

The Defence Housing Authority’s role is to provide adequate and suitable housing for serving members of the Defence Force and their families, in order to meet the operational needs of the Australian Defence Force and the requirements of the Department of Defence.

“I am confident the Board of the Defence Housing Authority will continue to meet the very difficult challenge of providing quality housing for Australia’s Defence Force members and their families in the most efficient and effective way possible,” Mr Scott said.

“I congratulate Mr Lyon on his appointment.” r
