Better employment support services for people with a disability in Wakefield

People with a disability in Wakefield will now have access to a higher standard of employment support services following the new Australian Government’s tender for Disability Employment Services.

“Everyone in our community deserves the dignity, financial security and opportunities that come with having a job,” Nick Champion said.

“This competitive tender process has ensured jobseekers with a disability in our local community get the best possible support to find work and keep it.

“These improvements mean we are expanding the number of high performing quality service providers as well as expanding the locations of services across Australia.

“As well as introducing Australia’s first National Disability Insurance Scheme, the Gillard Government is making reforms to provide higher quality employment support services for Australian’s with a disability.

“Our Government’s historic decision to uncap Disability Employment Services has meant that more people with disability in Wakefield than ever before are receiving assistance to help them to find and keep a job.

“Since we came into office the Gillard Government has increased our investment into helping people with a disability find work to a record $3.2 billion each year.

“Since we introduced the Disability Employment Services program on 1 March 2010, we have worked with industry to help place more than 136,000 job seekers with disability into employment - and now this system is geared to get even better results.”
