More than 4,000 jobs on offer at Hydro Aluminium Kurri Kurri Jobs Market

Wednesday 18 July 2012

More than 4,000 jobs will be on offer at today’s Jobs Market at the Hydro Aluminium Kurri Kurri Smelter, Loxford.

More than 50 local and interstate companies offering jobs will be there to meet the Hydro Aluminium workers face-to-face and to discuss job opportunities.

Minister for Employment Participation, Kate Ellis, urged job seekers, employers and training and educational organisations in the region to get involved in the Jobs Market.

“This Jobs Market is a great opportunity for Hydro Aluminium workers and local job seekers interested in undertaking training to meet a range of employers and training providers in a single location,” Ms Ellis said.

“This is also a great example of the Australian Government’s commitment to helping connect people to opportunities the broader economy has to offer to help them get back to work.”

Local member Mr Joel Fitzgibbon said: “The Hunter’s economy is strong and employers are looking for employees with the skills Hydro workers have. The Jobs Market will put them in touch with one another.”

Exhibitors will include the Central Coast-Hunter’s Job Services Australia providers with some able to offer jobs on the day.

The Jobs Market is funded by the Australian Government with contributions from Norsk Hydro and is being coordinated by the Local Employment Coordinator for the Central Coast-Hunter, Mr Jack Ritchie.
