COALITION POLICIES WOULD ASSIST WOOL PROCESSING PROPOSALS

The Shadow Minister for Industry and Commerce Ian McLachlan said today that, in government, the Coalition would canvass all options to assist and expedite wool processing projects in accord with its policies.

'As Minister, I would meet as a matter of urgency with representatives of local councils in New South Wales and Victoria, and the wool processing firms involved in these proposals,' he said.

Mr McLachlan pointed out that the removal of payroll tax, wholesales sales tax, fuel tax and the new accelerated depreciation arrangements announced in Fightback'two' would provide significant financial incentives for these types of projects.

Our policies have been specifically designed for just this very purpose of reducing the cost of doing business in this country,

'Therefore they provide very great encouragement for this type of new business development,' Mr McLachlan said.
